Farmer Photo
CrowdFarming's business model is based on the direct sale of products between farmers and consumers, offering them a platform that provides logistics and customer service. Our farmers were in need of a mobile application to make the process of taking and uploading photos of their products easier and faster.

Adoptions are CF's main business model. Users can adopt a tree or animal (known as Productive Unit) and benefit from its production throughout the year. We need photos of every Adoption so our clients can see their adopted tree or animal and the products they will receive.
Until now, the farmers had been getting by with a makeshift system: taking photos with their phone camera and uploading them manually, but they let us know this process had become impractical and time-consuming.
For this reason, we decided to create a tool that would make this task easier and faster.
The daily struggles of our farmers
To better empathise with our users, we visited one of the farmsteads partnered with CrowdFarming. We interviewed five farmers, each specialising in a different type of produce, and observed firsthand the challenges they face in their day-to-day work.

Lo-fi prototype

An intuitive user flow for a complex environment
One of the biggest challenges we faced was to find the location of every Production Unit on the ground. After carrying out several tests in collaboration with the IT team, we implemented a geolocation system that allows them to be located on a map and easily accessed.
A QR that saves all the information
Instead of the old plaques, each Productive Unit is assigned a plate with a QR code associated with its information, including its coordinates within the property.

Solving connectivity issues
We also needed to solve the internet connection issues, so we devised a functionality that would allow Farmers to take the photos in the field, save them and, once they have a better connection, upload them all at once.
Positive impact
We launched an MVP for a limited group of farmers so we could detect possible errors that would be resolved in the following stages.
After the initial launch, all the farmers working with CrowdFarming were given access to the new app, which received very positive feedback.
